Fallow doe!
Of corse I had to tag along on Tim's birthday hunt! I wasn't planning on shooting anything but I couldn't resist this beautiful deer. She was almost black she is such a dark chocolate color. Right after we got into the box blind it didn't take long to see a group of Fallow doe coming down the side of a hill. I videoed them for a bit but this was not what Tim was after. they disappeared behind the trees. As we sat and watched we saw a good size group of Blackbuck Ewe, then some Blackbuck Bucks came in and started fighting, a turkey, Fallow buck and we could still hear the hugh Red Stag in the distance were we passed him coming in. As we sat there the group of Fallow doe reappeared and my loving hubby handed me a rifle and said if I really wanted that dark almost black Fallow to take her. I had the lean across Tim with my booty up in the air, one hand on him for balance, the other hand with finger ready to pull the triger and Tim having to hold the gun. Unfortainately there was a big leafy branch between me and her. Next thing I know they were headed back into the trees. A minute later they came out where they had disappeared into the tress first thing that morning. As I settled my borrowed rifle out the side window they started to bunch up and I worried I would not get another chance at her. As they filed away she stopped and the other left her there. I settled the cross hairs on her and took several deep breathes. BANG!!! I have never shot a gun that big and I was in total shock. I could here talking around me but couldn't think straight, my heaad and heart were rattled. As I calmed down from the gun I started to get excited since I finally understood I dropped her in her tracks!! As we talked about getting down and going to check her out the other Fallow doe came back , I was so interested in the black Fallow I hadn't noticed that there was a white spotted fallow doe with her. Tim tried his hand at her but never got a clear shot. We finally desided to go gather up my doe. As we got close I got so much morre excited, she was so beautiful!
