Well got out to the stand this morning and it was nice to have dark enough to get to the stand without being busted from 200 yards away. I get to my stand at about 6:00 and start setting up my video Camera. The mount is a little tricky to use in the dark and especially when it is mounted above my head. I finally get the camera up and get settled in and at about 45 minuets later I spot some movement to the north of me. Its still dark but there’s definitely some deer moving around. I figure there is at least one buck because it appears that they are moving around lot and that one is running the others around. Finally as it begins to lighten they take off. Not too much time to get bored as to my south I hear some leaves crunching and here comes a Doe and a fawn. They hurry to the feeder event though it hasn’t gone off. Yet. This is a fun time to watch deer as they constantly checkout the feeder like it is a bomb. I have my camera on and positioned but its still way to dark to see anything on the monitor. Its plenty light enough to shoot but since I am trying to get some footage of the hunt I have to wait. Well finally its light enough to shoot and I get the camera zoomed in and the feeder goes off. The deer look like a covey of quail and off they go. More deer move off the south of me and some more to my north but they all several hundred yards away and not interested in corn when the ground is covered in Pecans and Acorns. The morning goes on but I cut it short and am out of the stand at 7:45 to go see my wife off on a trip to San Angelo. No exciting conclusion to the hunt but very enjoyable just the same.

They say “Almost” doesn’t count, but I think that sometimes it does.
