While at the Shoot Out, Tim (Switchbackshooter), Dave (Dajcentex), Aaron (ABuckingham), Bobby (Dave''s Friend), and myself were on the hunt for a vicious rabbit. We had practiced numerous times shooting the target all at the same time on a count of 3. We were prepared to go after the crazy rabbit.
We looked down the sondero, and at about 75 yards, the rabbit hopped out. We all slowly made our way towards the rabbit getting ready to lay the "stalk down" on him. I am not exactly sure how close we got but we were around 30-35 yards from him. So we all got our bows up and drawn back. 1.......2.........3 sssssssshhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Arrows were flying everywhere. Some down the sondero and some into cactus. Fortunately for the rabbit, he was able to pull a few moves out of a popular movie named "The Matrix" and escape death. But because of the experience he just had, he had lost his mind and turned mentally crazy.
He went back to the other rabbits telling them about the yellow and orange (the fletchings on our arrows) lights that he just saw zooming by him. And telling the others about how he thought the movie Godzilla wasn''t real but now he believed it was. He saw numerous Godzilla-like giants coming towards him before he saw the light flash by. Whether the other rabbits believed him, we will never know.
So we recovered our arrows and went back to where we had our day camp. Once we returned, we looked down the neighboring sondero and to our amazement, he had cut through the cactus and made his way back out about 75 yards away. We could see the slobber coming out of his mouth and his head was twitching; obviously because he was distraught and had lost his mind from what happened to him before. We took no more than 5 steps and he turned and ran like he had never ran before because he saw the "Godzilla" freaks coming back towards him.
He is still out there but I am sure he has no more friends because of his mental state.
